A bronze relief over the church entrance depicts a standing figure of Christ with his arms out by his side. The sculpture presents an invitation expressed by the Psalmist for entry of everyone into the presence of God and depicts the reiteration of that universal and constant invitation by his posture and open hands. He stands beneath a design of interlocking arches.

The sculpture was commissioned by the church as a memorial to a parishioner's wife. The sculpture was cast in Oslo, Norway, in late 1963 and was installed and dedicated during the winter of 1963-1964. IAS files contain a copy of an August 1979 brochure "Symbols of the First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange, Illinois.
