Description:
Figure of a Civil War soldier standing at parade rest. He wears a uniform consisting of a long coat, a cape buttoned at the top and a cap. The mustached figure holds the barrel of a rifle with both hands. The butt of the gun rests in front of his proper right foot. His proper left foot is forward and bent at the knee. The figure stands atop a tiered base, with a relief of a dove holding a banner in its beak, its wing outstretched in front of two crossed flags.

IAS files contain unidentified newspaper articles discussing the monument and its dedication and a photograph taken of the dedication ceremony. Funds were raised by the Women's Relief Corp, who took on the project in 1902 and raised nearly 554 dollars, mostly from 1 dollar contributions.
