    Remarks: 
    See IAS files for copy of Randolph County Herald Tribune (Chester, IL) June 23, 1977 article, which provides a brief history of the statue. The work was done to commemorate Elzie Crisler Segar, creator of the Popeye comic character in 1929. Work commissioned and funded by the Xi Upsilon Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, who solicited donations and sold Popeye memorabilia, spinach banks, Tshirts and punching bags to raise ten thousand dollars for the statue.
