    Description: 
    A Confederate soldier stands at parade rest, atop a tall granite shaft. He is dressed in uniform, with a brimmed hat and jacket. His hands are at chest level holding the barrel of his rifle, the butt resting by his proper left foot. The shaft is decorated with a relief of crossed rifles on the front, and a relief of a flag on the side. On the mid-section of the base, there are upturned cannon barrels on each corner. The lower section of the base is multi-tiered with a relief of crossed sabres on the front.

    Remarks: 
    The monument commemorates Civil War soldiers. It cost $1,500 and was erected by The Matron's Club. Sources in IAS files give conflicting information regarding the date of the monument, offering a dedication date of June 10, 1904, and an installation date of 1905.
