Description:
A Civil War soldier stands at parade rest holding his rifle in front of him with both hands, the butt of which rests near his proper right foot. He wears wide-brimmed hat, mustache and beard. The sculpture is mounted atop a tall shaft with elaborate ornamentation including swags and dentils. On the front of the shaft is an unfurled Confederate flag in relief. At the base of the shaft, rounded granite blocks extend from each corner. On the right and left sides of the base are lions' heads that may have once been used as fountains. Each head is directly over a half-round pool that extends from each side.
