    Description: 
    A Union soldier stands holding his cap with both hands in front of him, his head lowered and his rifle leaning against his proper left shoulder. He has his proper left foot forward, rifle butt between his feet. The soldier has a beard and moustache, and wears an unbuttoned, open long overcoat, and an elbow-length cape. He has a bayonet at his proper left hip and a kit suspended from his belt. The figure is mounted on a tapered and tiered, rectangular base. On the upper front section of the base is a shield in relief.
