    Remarks:
This bronze sculpture replaces Alan Collins' earlier limestone sculpture, which was deteriorating due to environmental conditions. The original limestone sculpture was modeled for Loma Linda University and Medical Center in 1974, and was commissioned in 1977. It took four and a half years to complete, and was dedicated on May 3, 1981. When the sculpture began to show signs of erosion, the artist, along with the Monterey Sculpture Center, made plaster casts of the figures so that they could be cast in bronze. Both the limestone original and the bronze were funded by medical school alumnus Reuben Matiko, MD, and his wife Frances.
