The sculpture was created and funded through the CETA (Comprehensive Employment Training Act) program, the Coronado Student Activities Fund, and the PTO. Coronado students in 1975 and 1977 classes assisted in the design of the piece. In 1983-1984, the sculpture was moved from the south side of the elementary school to the west side of the middle school. A new base was constructed at that time.
