Description:
Allegorical female figure, representing Liberty, stands holding a torch aloft in her proper right hand. A book or tablet is crooked in her proper left elbow. The figure wears classical-style robes and a star-like crown. Sculpture stands on a tall, rectangular base.

Provenance:
Formerly located Liberty National Life Insurance Building, 3rd & 21st Streets South, Birmingham, Alabama 1958-1988.
Remarks:
Commissioned by Frank P. Samford, president of the Liberty National Insurance Company in 1952. The model was sent to France in 1956 and cast in 1958. In Dec. 1988 the statue was moved from the Liberty National building to the parking lot and treated with copper sulfate to match the patina of the original Statue of Liberty. IAS files contain the text of a commemorative plaque, a brochure and a dedication publication from the Company.
