    Remarks: 
    Commissioned by the Sumter County Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy for $1,600. The figure was carved in Italy. The monument contains the names of 1,125 soldiers who served in the Civil War. IAS files include related articles from "Our Southern Home," (Livingston, AL) May 6, 1908, June 9, 1909 and July 7, 1909, and the Gainesville Times, June 9, 1909.
