A Confederate soldier stands in field uniform, wearing a wide-rimmed hat and britches. He holds a flag on his proper left side with both hands, with part of the flag unfurling behind him. A rock formation is behind the soldier's proper right leg. The sculpture is mounted upon a tall base with a shaft-like upper section with a castellated design at the top. The mid-section of the base has United Daughters of the Confederacy cross emblems, with four vertical cannon barrels on each corner. Below it are inscriptions on all sides, topped by a castellated design. The lower section of the base is three-stepped, with cannon balls on each corner of the top step. The monument is within a planted setting.
