Description:
Bronze full-length figure of a Confederate soldier. He wears trousers and is barefoot and bare chested. He holds his arms high above his head; in his proper right hand he holds the hilt of a broken sword. His gaze is directed up to the proper left. The sculpture stands on a pink granite base in a niche set into a granite and aggregate wall.

Remarks:
The sculpture is one of two installed at either end of the Confederate Memorial plaza. (For related record see GA000709). The plaza and sculptures were financed from bond issue funds. The inscription on the base was carved by di Biccari. IAS files contain transcriptions of related plaques found on the memorial plaza.
