Remarks:
This cast of Moonbeam was commissioned by the North Shore Manor, a home for the elderly, and its Residents Council. The cost was $5,000, of which $1,000 was raised by the residents. The project's co-sponsor was the Columbus Gallery in Loveland. Moonbeam the owl was chosen to parallel the prudence that comes with age and rebound from adversity. Found near Fort Collins, Colorado with a broken wing, Moonbeam lives at the Broomfield Birds of Prey Rehabilitation Center. The sculpture was exhibited by Cypress Gardens in Florida during their 1994-1995 show. In late 1994, the sculpture was formally donated to the City of Loveland. IAS files contain the dedication program which lists the names on the plaque and related articles from the Herald-Reporter (Colorado).
