Description:
The sculpture, made of 1/8 inch steel plate, depicts a large folded paper airplane with its nose buried in the ground. The paper is a sheet of spiral notebook paper with a perforated edge, a red margin line, and blue lines across it. The sculpture is bolted to an iron plate on top of concrete base.

Remarks:
The sculpture was commissioned and funded by the Kelly-Ducy Foundation of Pueblo as a contribution to the University of Southern Colorado's Sculpture On Campus program. The sculpture was fabricated by the artist when he was a sophomore at the University of Southern Colorado. He was assisted by other Art Department students and the Welding Department at Pueblo Community College. Bill Williams assisted as a consulting structural engineer. A nearby plaque reads: SCULPTURE ON CAMPUS/PROJECT/KELLY-DUCY FOUNDATION/PHILLIP VALLEJO/THREE - FOLD EDUCATION. IAS files contain related articles from The Pueblo Chieftain, May 2, 1988, pg. 10A and the Denver Equipment Company's newsletter, Trefoil Insider 1 (Oct. 1988): pg. 1; the Colorado State Fair program cover for the 1988 Fine Art Exhibit; and a University of Southern Colorado Press Release dated Aug. 30, 1988.
