Springville City Corporation, Arts Commission, 50 South Main Street, Springville, Utah 84663
    Remarks:
In 1922, Dallin donated the sculpture to Springville for a proposed Soldier's Monument for the City park. Lewis J. Whitney, a Springville contractor, volunteered his services in building the fountain pedestal after a plan suggested by Dallin. Various community organizations raised funds to finance the cost of materials for the project. The memorial was constructed to honor seven Springville and Mapleton boys who lost their lives in World War I. At the time of the unveiling, seven Norway maple trees representing the soldiers were placed around the statue; three identical bronze heads, also by Dallin, were placed at the base of the fountain.
