    Remarks:
See IAS files for article "History of Brandon" from unidentified source, which provides brief commissioning history and lists names of soldiers inscribed on the base. In a Brandon Town meeting, March 4, 1884, it was voted to erect a monument at a cost not to exceed $3,000. Work was delayed until 1886 because of a difference of opinion over location.
