    Remarks:
Dedicated to the 508 Iowans who died in the Korean War. The idea for the memorial began in November 1984, when members of a Des Moines junior high school class wrote Governor Terry Branstad asking why Korean War veterans did not have a memorial. The memorial lists no names of combat casualties; instead it tells the story of the Korean War. IAS files contain a related article from Des Moines Registar. IAS files contain transcriptions from the obelisk and the monoliths.
