Remarks:
The Civil War memorial was erected at a cost of about $400.00, with funds raised by the Zach Taylor Post No. 42, Grand Army of the Republic. It was dedicated on Memorial Day, 1896. The sculpture was originally painted white. In May of 1995 the monument was cleaned by local artist Maurice Odenbrett and the soldier was repainted in the colors of a Union soldier.
