The Class of 1922 Fountain, the cobbled area, the retaining wall in front of Gibson Hall, and the new plantings were donated by Irene Stones Pickard, widow of John Coleman Pickard, Class of 1922, in the name of her husband's class. Andre Warren received design assistance from Irene Pickard and landscaping help from Bowdoin College Physical Plant employees. IAS files contain related excerpt from Patricia McGraw Anderson's "The Architecture of Bowdoin College," Brunswick, Maine, pg. 67; and a citation to Kennebec Journal (Nov. 1968).
