    Remarks: 
    One of two forms standing approximately 15 feet apart (see also IAS 87600017), that are from the artist's nine part "Family of Man" series. Parent I was purchased in 1973 and is no. 4 in the Family of Man series. The two sculptures were purchased in 1972 for $64,000 by the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, as part of the One Percent for Art program in new state buildings. Pending completion of landscaping, the sculpture was originally placed in the courtyard of the Library and in Feb. 1990 was placed in storage because of renovation; reinstalled at present site May 31, 1992.
