Description:
A wounded soldier is lying on the ground at the feet of his fellow soldier. He trys to rise from the ground supporting himself with his forearms. His helmet lies on the ground nearby. His fellow soldier stands guard over him, bayonet held with both hand, looking out into the distance for the enemy. An eagle is perched on the ground by the wounded soldier's feet. The figures are mounted on a circular granite base.

Remarks:
Memorial was a gift of the Bronx Victory Memorial Association. Cost was 6,000 dollars. Sculpture was restored in 1989. Inventory image files contain a historic photograph of the sculpture from the Art Commission of the City of New York files.
