    Description: 
    A Civil War soldier, dressed in a military uniform that includes a brimmed cap. He stands at parade rest, holding the barrel of a rifle with both hands, the butt resting at his feet. He wears a backpack and a scabbard hangs on his proper left side. The sculpture is placed atop a tall shaft, atop a two-tiered base. The uppermost section of the base contains names of battles (Antietam, Gettysburg, etc.), with names of military leaders (Hooker, Meade, etc.) underneath.
