    Remarks:
The memorial was commissioned by Preston Pope Satterwhite (1867-1948) to honor his wife, Florence Brokaw Martin (d. 1927). The site was prepared by Wadley & Smythe, landscape architects from New York City; the marble cut by B.A. and G.N. Williams, stone contractors in New York City. The temple was designed by Horace Trumbauer and based on the Temple of Love by French architect Richard Mique, built for Marie Antoinette at Versaille and the Roman Temple of Vista at Tivoli. Sally James Farnham created the female figure.
