    Remarks:
The sculpture was created from a 22 inch version begun by Mario Vita and completed by his daughter, Anna Vita. (This small sculpture was presented to Pope Pius XII by Father John H. Boccella, a former president of St. Francis College in Sept. 29, 1958 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the American Parish Youth Center in Primavalle, Italy). The plaster enlargement by Gino Leofanti was exhibited at the Plaza Hotel in New York, April 25-28, 1959, prior to its placement on campus outside the new library, then called the Pius XII Memorial Library. The sculpture was originally installed in the front of the library, before being moved to its current side location. IAS files contain related articles from the Altoona Mirror, April 22, 1959 and the Johnstown Tribune-Democrat, May 4, 1959 and additional related articles describing the library's dedication.
