Remarks:
The sculpture is a replica of a 1901 original sculpture by Vincent. The original sculpture, made of copper and lead, had deteriorated due to extensive corrosion and was taken down in 1978. The fiberglass replica was executed using photographs of the original and the original head and shoulders, which were still intact, as models. Cost of the new sculpture was $5,657; $500 of which was a gift from the White Mountain Riders Motorcycle Club. SOS! survey reports conflicting dates for placement of the sculpture: interview with local historian gives date as Oct. 3, 1978; St. Anne's centennial history cites date as Sept. 27, 1979. IAS files contain copy of related article from Berlin Reporter, Aug. 23, 1901 and Sept. 27, 1978. IAS files contain copy of related material from "St. Anne's Catholic Church 1885-1985", pg. 28-34, 52, 54-55.
