    Remarks:
Gift of Mrs. Alentkowski, according to church records, and also a gift of the family of Valentine Strozewski. IAS files contain citations to South Bend Tribune, March 9, 1923 and Oct. 10, 1985. Statue was erected in 1919 to commemorate the return to peace after World War I and also to mark the 25th year of priesthood of Rev. John Kubacki, the parish's first pastor. Statue is a replica of one by Thornwaldson in Italy. Statue was vandalized in 1932. Hands and lower arms broken off. At a later date, Todd Villeneuve restored the statue, sculpting new hands with the help of Dan Szczechowski.
