    Remarks:
The figure was cast by a company in Ohio and was originally intended to adorn Ohio's capitol building. The electric torch that the figure holds burns in memory of Georgia's war dead. It was replaced in 1965 after being damaged by lightning. The sword symbolizes freedom and/or military protection of the state. The Capitol was designed by the architectural firm of Edbrooke and Burnham and built by the construction firm of Miles and Horne.
