Dimensions:  Overall: approx. H. 55 ft. x W. 22 ft.; Christ figure: approx. H. 31 ft. (7 tons). Inscription:  unsigned Description:  A bronze figure of Christ crucified on a huge redwood cross. Unlike other crucifix images, the figure of Christ does not wear a crown of thorns, nor is his side pierced with the wound inflicted by a Roman soldier's spear. (Special permission from the Vatican was obtained by the sculptor for this unusual rendering of Christ.) The sculpture was cleaned in May 1992 by the Jensen Foundation for Art Conservation, Education and Research, based in Omaha, Nebraska. The bronze sculpture was walnut shelled and a new brown patina was applied; the wooden cross was repainted.
