A bell is mounted on I-beams, one of which is used for a flagpole. The bell and I-beams are surrounded by a fence with spiked tips.

The bell was cast in memory of Mrs. A. W. Thompson. It had originally been owned by A. W. Thompson and was given to the library in his name. An unknown architect from the city of Clayton collaborated with the installment of the bell.
