    Remarks:
The Iowa state symbol and sculpture were designed in 1970 by the Iowa Development Commission and a Cedar Rapids advertising firm. The sculpture was subsequently rejected by the Iowa Executive Council and placed in storage at the Des Moines sign company who had been hired to erect the monument. It remained in storage until 1984, when the proprietor of the sign company retired. SOS! survey form lists media as steel and an attached article from the Des Moines Register, Aug. 25, 1984 lists the media as fiberglass.
