    Description:
A depiction of a young girl reading a book. The girl is half-sitting or leaning against an abstracted form resembling a stone outcropping. She looks down at a book that is open and laying flat in her hands. Her hair is pulled back in a barrette at the nape of her neck and falls to her mid-back. She wears a slight smile as she appears to read the text of the open book which is depicted by lines incised on the pages. Her arms are held at her sides and bent at the elbows, with both hands turned palm up to hold the open book. She wears a long dress which falls to the ground and covers her feet except for the tips of her shoes.
The dress is close fitting above the waist and full below the waist. The sleeves of the dress are loose below the elbows and flair slightly at the wrists. This sculpture has many subtle details that are not apparent at first glance. The sculpture is placed on a square concrete base.
