    Remarks:
The sculpture was funded and commissioned by the citizens of the City of Los Angeles and dedicated to all World War I veterans. Pedretti designed the bronze eagle and the medal replica on the rear of the pedestal. The olive branch and helmet, donated by French veterans, were a later addition to the memorial. The memorial has been moved several times within the park. It was originally sited in the northwest corner. In the 1950s it was located in the southeast corner. Prior to the 1992-1994 park renovation, it was located in the center of the park.
