Washington Monument Commemorative Stone: Idaho, (sculpture). Artist:  Tourtellote and Hummel, architectural firm. Title:  Washington Monument Commemorative Stone: Idaho, (sculpture). Dates:  1928. Installed 1928. Digital Reference:  Medium:  Limestone, lead, and bronze. Dimensions:  2 x 4 ft. Inscription:  IDAHO/MCMXXVIII Description:  The stone is carved in relief with letters spelling out IDAHO. Surrounding the stone is a lead frame adorned with bronze rosettes at each corner. The lower part of the lead frame is incised with MCMXXVIII. Subject:  Allegory -- Place -- Idaho Object Type:  Sculpture Owner:  Administered by United States Department of the Interior, National Park Service, Washington, District of Columbia Located National Mall, Adjacent to 14th Street, between Constitution Avenue, N.W. & Independence Avenue, S.W., Washington, District of Columbia Remarks:  One of 193 commemorative stones set into the interior walls of the Washington Monument. The stones were donated by states, cities, towns, organizations, individuals, and foreign countries in honor of George Washington. The State of Idaho donated the stone, which is located at the 400 ft. level. The stone was designed by Tourtellote and Hummel architects, Boise, Idaho.
