Remarks:
The faces on the totem pole were designed to represent the seven Indian bands that were recognized as the Squaxin Island Tribe by the 1854 Medicine Creek Treaty. The seven tribes include Case Inlet, Carr Inlet, Agate, Shelton, Totten, Mud Bay and Henderson. IAS files contain copy of related article from Shelton Mason County Journal, Feb. 10, 1994.
