    Remarks:
The sculpture was a gift from the state of Salzburg (Austria) to the Georgia Salzburger Society. The sculpture commemorates the Salzburger Lutherans who were expelled from the area of Salzburg in 1731 because of their religious faith and emigrated to the colony of Georgia in 1734. The relief sculpture is based on an etching entitled "Marsch Der Salzburger Emigranten", which was published in Angelike Marsch's "Die Salzburger Emigration in Bilden" IAS files contain copies of related correspondence, City of Savannah committee and council recommendations, and artist's preliminary sketches. IAS files contain copies of articles from Savannah Morning News, Oct. 29 and Nov. 9, 1993; and Aug. 8, Sept. 6 and 7, 1994.
