Description:
Atop a tall granite shaft stands a granite figure of a Civil War soldier holding his rifle in front of him. The monument is installed in the center of a traffic circle. A wrought iron fence surrounds the monument.

Remarks:
The monument honors the 750 men from Blackstone and Millville, then part of Blackstone, who served in the Grand Army of the Republic. The monument was dedicated on Memorial Day, May 30, 1913 on a site originally known as Block Square, but now known as Monument Square. The monument was designed and constructed by the Thomas P. Murray Monument Works of Woonsocket. For additional information see the Woonsocket Call, Oct. 11, 1969 and Feb. 15, 1974.
