    Description:
Sculpture depicts the destruction and rebuilding of the community of Watsonville following an earthquake. Sculpture consists of a ruined building of brick and concrete; the centers of the walls are broken away and bricks are piled below on the ground. The windows on all four walls are intact and are filled in with concrete and glazed tile. The tiles depict scenes of everyday domestic life in town. Surrounding the sculpture is a square, walled concrete base with glazed tile around the perimeter on all four sides. The tiled walls depict various scenes: the destruction caused by the earthquake; citizens living in temporary shelters; citizens rebuilding the town; and a street scene with rebuilt houses and buildings.
