    Remarks:
Statue is a replacement for the original statue (IAS record KS000238), which was dedicated on July 4, 1950 and relocated indoors at the Butler County Historical Society in 1988 due to vandalism and deterioration. The base for the current statue is the same one that the original statue stood upon. The new statue was the culmination of a team effort between the Eldorado Boy Scouts, the Butler County Council of the American Legion, the Butler County Commissioners, and Texaco, who provided funds for its purchase. It was painted to resemble the restored Statue of Liberty at Ellis Island. IAS files contain related articles from The Wichita Eagle-Beacon, Nov. 17, 1988; the Augusta Daily Gazette (Kansas), Nov. 14, 1988, pg. 3; The Sunflower Legionnaire, Dec. 1988; and the Eldorado Times (Kansas), Nov. 11 and 12, 1988.
