Description:
Three relief-like panels set within the upper front of the library building. The center panel depicts a large eagle with wings outstretched standing above a seal that rests on a shield. Two mustached Civil War soldiers, dressed in military uniform, stand on each side of the seal and shield. The figure on the left wears a knee-length coat and brimmed cap and holds the barrel of a rifle to his proper right side. The figure on the right wears a hat and holds a sword to his proper left side with both hands. The panels to the left and right of the central panel each depict a Civil War soldier, dressed in military uniform with a cap, atop a horse.
