    Description: 
    A carved totem pole containing symbols associated with the history of the United States. The symbols include, in descending order: the hands of the Creator; the Bill of Rights; an open scroll representing the Constitution with the words "We the People"; an American eagle with its wings extending from the sides of the totem pole; an American flag; the Liberty Bell; brown and white clasped hands representing the melding of nationalities; a Minuteman with gun in hand; a bust of the Statue of Liberty; symbols of industry --gears, wrench, factory; and at the bottom of the totem pole is the Woodcarvers Unlimited logo, a crossed mallet and chisel. The totem pole is supported by a concrete foundation and steel beam. An inscription plaque is located on a marker on top of the foundation.

    Remarks: 
    The totem pole commemorates the 200th anniversary of the signing of the Bill of Rights. The totem pole was carved by members of the Woodcarvers Unlimited Club of Fairfield Bay after a suggestion by Loreda Ellis of Clinton, Arkansas. Club members who carved the totem include: Bob Hoskins, Mina Hoskins, Al Katzenberger, Coy Lawson, Max Nigh, Helen Planke, Clarence Radford, Art Sadel, Bob Schrage, Don Shelton, Mary Solvin, Allen Stewart, Dick Whisler and Jim White. The totem pole was placed in its concrete foundation by the Fairfield Bay Community Club's community maintenance department. The totem pole was dedicated on July 4, 1992 at the Fairfield Bay Log Cabin Museum's annual breakfast.
