    Two identical female figures representing Justice, placed atop east and west entrances of old stone county courthouse. Each figure stands holding a sword in her proper right hand and a scale in her upraised proper left hand. Neither figure is blindfolded.

    Remarks: 
    The old courthouse was built in 1888 by W. R. McPherson, and contractor W. H. Sternberg. It was restored in 1978 by Sanford Roberts and contractor Hahner, Forman and Harness, Inc. The scales held by the Justice figure on the east entrance were blown off during a storm in 1976, and were replaced during the 1978 restoration. In 1988, the figures were waterproofed. The courthouse is on the National Register of Historic Places.
