Description:
A depiction of a pioneer family of five standing facing outward in circular fashion, the father and mother directly behind one another. The father is barechested, his proper left hand holding on to the proper right hand of his daughter, his proper right hand holding on to his wife's proper left hand. The girl is barefoot, and wears a sleeveless, calf-length dress. By the father's proper right is a boy, barefoot and wearing only shorts, his arms wrapped around his father's leg. The mother's head is covered and she cradles a child wrapped in a blanket in her proper right arm. The sculpture is mounted upon an octagonal base with a surrounding bench.

Remarks:
The architectural firm of Millard Archuleta Associates of Los Angeles designed the base. The sculpture was originally owned by the Eureka Saving and Loan Association, the site then bought by the San Mateo County Transit District (also known as SamTrans). A time capsule may be behind the plaque on the base.
