Remarks:
The sculpture was designed by Oike and sculpted by Wilcomb. The design is based on the 442nd Regimental Combat Team's military emblem. The sculpture was commissioned by the Taira Investment Corporation with $40,000 in donations from local businessmen. IAS files contain copy of related article from Los Angeles Times, Nov. 10, 1986. IAS files contain copy of related excerpt from Michael Several's "Little Tokyo, the Public Art of Los Angeles, Part 2", 1994, pg. 19-21.
