Remarks:
This sculpture is one of four done by Bernard Frazier for the Edmund Stanley Library constructed in 1969. The sculptures are located in the courtyards at each corner of the library (see also Empathy (IAS record 88410037); Perception (IAS record 88410038); and Faith (IAS record 88410039). The sculptures are integral to the library's architecture and also reflect the mission and legacy of Friends University. The sculptures were a gift to the artist, who charged the university little more than the cost of materials. Frazier died before completing Intellect and it was finished by his son and his assistant Michael Soelter. IAS files contain copy of related Friends University magazine "Focus," May 1976.
