    Description: 
    An abstract sculpture constructed with white-painted sheet steel formed into twelve vertical angles, eleven of which face in the same direction. According to the artist, the vertical elements symbolize growth of creativity. The sculpture was painted white to intensify the light reflected by the sculpture.

    The title of the sculpture, "Empedocles," is interpreted by the artist as an expression of the creative spark. The sculpture, which is popularly known as "The Twelve Apostles," was commissioned by the City of Syracuse at a cost of $15,000.
