    A larger than life-size full-length portrait of Steve Alvord. The figure is wearing buckskin jacket, pants and boots. The figure is wearing glasses and has a full beard and mustache.

    Remarks: 
    The sculpture is a portrait of the son of the owner of the Alvord Glove Company at age twenty. For related article see: Gloversville Leader Herald (New York), June 3, 1971. Alvord Glove Company (later Alvord's House of Leather) closed in 1998, but the Big Man remained in place as the shop changed hands and became the Adirondack Leather Shop. In May 2006, the Big Man was moved to owner;s new home in Mayfield to be touched up.
