Description:
A rock garden composed of twenty-one large stone specimens from geographic regions around the world. The specimens vary in size from a few hundred pounds to one-half ton. Next to each specimen is descriptive text identifying the stone and providing background information about how it was formed. A few of the specimens rest on concrete bases. The stone specimens are arranged along a walkway in a plaza in front of the museum.

Remarks:
The rock garden was installed in front of the Museum of Science in 1973 in memory of Susan B. Minns, a benefactor of the museum. In 1987, the rock garden was moved to its current site to make room for an addition to the museum. IAS files contain a museum information sheet that gives detailed descriptions of the specimens.
