    Remarks:
In 1974, Paul Shao was commissioned to make this bronze casting of the original terra cotta sculpture (IAS entry 65060002) done by Christian Petersen in 1937. The original terra cotta sculpture installed in the old Veterinary Quadrangle had sustained weather damage over time and was recast in bronze for the main courtyard of the new College of Veterinary Medicne. The original terra cotta sculpture was moved to the Scheman Building. For the original terra cotta sculpture, two University students had served as models - L. M. Forland for the doctor, and for the hands, William R. Born.
