It was installed in Republic Square Park pending construction of the developers' new University Office Park. A display agreement with the city was reached in August 1986. Designed in 1985, the base cost $1,500 and was paid for by Downtown Austin Partners, Inc. IAS files contain related article from The Austin American-Statesman, Jan. 12, 1986, Sec.
