    Description: 
    The windows and entrance of a Blacherne Apartments are adorned with a variety of ornate reliefs. On the south and east facades are six bowed window bays, each featuring ornate vegetation, in the center of which is a face, possibly a character from a Lew Wallace novel. Amidst the vegetation are other smaller faces, as well as fanciful beasts. In the keystone above the main entrance is a lion, and the arch is flanked by curling, lizard-like creatures.

    Remarks: 
    Author Lew Wallace (1827-1905) owned the apartment building, which was built in 1895, and the faces on the sculptures may be characters from his novels. IAS image files only contain a photo of the reliefs on one bowed window bay.
